PETICION CHILE
Estimados amigos:
Yo sé que este asunto les preocupa, por eso les pido que agreguen su nombre y difúndanlo entre sus amistades.

En ingles abajo dice así:
"Queridos amigos que se preocupan por nuestra tierra, Por favor tomen un minuto para leer y juzgar por Uds.
mismos si quieren tomar acción. En el valle de San Félix, el agua más pura en Chile corre por 2 ríos alimentados por 2 glaciares.  El agua es el mas precioso recurso y se pelearan guerras por el.  Los campesinos indígenas usan el agua, ellos proveen la segunda fuente de ingresos mas grande en el Área y no hay desempleo. Grandísimos depósitos de oro, plata y otros minerales han sido encontrados bajos los glaciares.  Para llegar hasta ellos será necesario quebrar y destruir los glaciares -algo nunca concebido en la historia del mundo- y hacer 2 grandísimos huecos, cada uno tan grande como toda una montaña, uno para la extracción y uno para el deshecho de la mina.

El proyecto se llama PASCUA LAMA.  La compañía a se llama Barrick Gold.  La operación esta siendo planeado por una multinacional de la cual es miembro George Bush padre. El gobierno Chileno ha aprobado el proyecto para que empiece este ano, 2006. La Única razón por la cual no ha empezado aun es porque los campesinos han obtenido un aplazamiento.  Si destruyen los glaciares, no solamente destruirán la fuente de un agua especialmente pura, pero contaminaran permanentemente los 2 ríos de tal forma que nunca volverán a ser aptos para consumo por humanos o animales debido al uso de cianuro y Acido sulfúrico en el proceso de extracción. Hasta el Ultimo gramo de oro será enviado a la multinacional en el extranjero y ni uno le quedara a la gente a quien le pertenece esta tierra.  A ellos solo les quedara el agua envenenada y las enfermedades consiguientes. Los campesinos llevan mucho tiempo peleando por su tierra pero no han podido recurrir a la TV por una prohibición del Ministerio del Interior.  Su Única esperanza para frenar este proyecto es obtener ayuda de la justicia internacional. El mundo debe enterarse de lo que esta pasando en Chile.  El lugar por donde empezar a cambiar el mundo es nuestro lugar. Le pedimos circular este mensaje entre sus amigos de esta forma:  por favor copie este texto y péguenlo a un mensaje nuevo, añadiendo su firma y enviándolo a todas las personas en su archivo de direcciones.

Se ruega a la persona numero 100 que reciba este mensaje mandarlo a noapascualama@yahoo.ca para que sea remitido al gobierno Chileno. No a la mina abierta Pascua Lama en la cordillera andina sobre la frontera Chile-Argentina. Pedimos al gobierno Chileno que no autorice el proyecto Pascua Lama para proteger la totalidad de 3 glaciares, la pureza del agua de los valles de San Félix y El Transito, la calidad de la tierra cultivable en la Región de Atacama, la calidad de vida de la gente diaguita y de toda la gente de la Región.

Dear friends who care about our earth,
Please take a minute to read and judge for yourself if you want to take action.
In the Valle de San Felix, the purest water in Chile runs from 2 rivers, fed by 2 glaciers.
Water is a most precious resource, and wars will be fought for it.
Indigenous farmers in the region use the water, they provide the second largest source of income for the area and there is no unemployment.

Under the glaciers has been found a huge deposit of gold, silver and other minerals. To get at these, it would be necessary to break, to destroy the glaciers - something never conceived of in the history of the world - and to make 2 huge holes, each as big as a whole mountain, one for extraction and one for the mine's rubbish heap.

The project is called PASCUA LAMA. The company is called Barrick Gold. The operation is planned by a multi-national company, one of whose members is George Bush Senior. The Chilean Government has approved the project to start this year, 2006.

The only reason it hasn't started yet is because the farmers have got a temporary stay of execution. If they destroy the glaciers, they will not just destroy the source of specially pure water, but they will permanently contaminate the 2  rivers so they will never again be fit for human or animal consumption because of the use of cyanide and sulphuric acid in the extraction process.

Every last gramme of gold will go abroad to the multinational company and not one will be left with the people whose land it is.They will only be left with the poisoned water and the resulting illnesses.

The farmers have been fighting a long time for their land, but have been forbidden to make a TV appeal by a ban from the Ministry of the Interior.

Their only hope now of putting brakes on this project is to get help from international justice.
The world must know what is happening in Chile. The place to start changing the world is from your own place.

No to Pascua Lama Open-cast mine in the Andean Cordillera on the Chilean-Argentine frontier.
We ask the Chilean Government not to authorize the Pascua Lama project to protect the whole of 3 glaciers, the purity of the water of the San Felix Valley and El Transito, the quality of the agricultural land of the region of Atacama, the quality of life of the Diaguita people and of the whole population of the region.
